“These Hands” Release Week
Hey everybody!
I’m so excited that my second single of 2022 is available now (more on that below). But that’s not all that’s been happening in Jacob Rice Music land. If you follow me on social media, you should have seen that I announced my first set of shows outside of Nashville for this summer.
“These Hands” released last Friday
I first wrote this song last year ahead of my wedding in March. I wanted to surprise my wife-to-be with a song unique to our wedding day but also as a way to memorialize the vows we were going to take. As part of our wedding ceremony we chose to do a hand-fasting ceremony. This is what inspired the theme of this song. I took it to my good friends, Pamela Lack and Bobby Kropp, to help write it. After we wrote the song, I had a couple of months to practice it, but I couldn’t ever do it at home for risk of Francesca hearing it. In my opinion, this song was the best kept secret in town because I would “practice” it by playing it out live at my shows, while begging the audience not to post any video of it on social media.
I performed the song with her sitting on stage with me during our wedding reception. It is definitely one of our favorite moments from that day. Now with “These Hands” recorded and out in the world, we get to relive that day with each listen.
first full band tour of 2022
Last week, I announced that I am heading out of Tennessee for my first full band shows of the year! I cannot wait for this new experience with the band, seeing so many familiar faces, and meeting new people in new places. I am heading as far north as Burlington, VT, while hitting some new spots along the way.
